After several years at Oklahoma, quarterback Spencer Rattler chose to finish his college career with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Rattler might be looking to comeback in a huge way after losing his job to Caleb Williams, who didn’t even stick around at Oklahoma when he put his name in the transfer portal as well.
Rattler, who was the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2019, recently showed just how good his arm is when he unleashed a 75-yard pass like it was nothing.@qbmag @gamecockfb QB @spencer_rattler7 throws 75 yards in the College Long Ball Contest . ??? @elev8qbacademy ♬ CHAMPION – Dark Chocolate
Rattler, a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2020, entered this season as the favorite for the Heisman Trophy. However, he found himself being benched against Texas for the 2nd-straight year.
As a freshman in 2020, Rattler threw for 3,031 yards and 28 touchdowns with seven interceptions in 11 games, leading the Sooners to their sixth consecutive conference title and a win over Florida in the Cotton Bowl.
As a redshirt sophomore, Rattler completed 74.9% of his pass attempts for 1,483 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions in nine games.
The Gamecocks went 6–6 last season and struggled badly in the passing game. The team cycled through multiple quarterbacks, with none reaching the 1,000-yard mark.
