Michigan State has had a real frustrating night against their fiercest rival and the behavior of one of their players did not help matters.
During a play in which MSU quarterback Katin Houser threw an interception to Michigan nickelback Mike Sainristil, Spartan offensive tackle Spencer Brown got tangles with Michigan defensive end Braiden McGregor.
During the return for a touchdown, Brown threw McGregor to the field and then went full force to diving into him as he led with his helmet, which drove McGregor’s head into the ground.
Spencer Brown was ejected for a flagrant foul as Wolverines defensive back Mike Sainristil’s pick-six put the Wolverines up 35-0 early in the second half.
He deserved that but he should also be suspended for an action that could also cause a head or even a brain injury.

The Spartans were thumped, 49-0, by their arch-rivals at home. MSU had not been shut out in the rivalry since a 14-0 loss in 2000 in Ann Arbor and hadn’t been blanked at home by the Wolverines since a 31-0 loss in 1985.
The Wolverines outgained the Spartans 477-182 in the game.
This was also the largest margin of victory at any location in the 116-game series.
The Wolverines head into a bye week before gearing up to host Purdue in a rematch of last year’s Big Ten Championship Game. Michigan State is looking to stop their losing streak in a terrible 2023 campaign for them.
The Spartans head to Minnesota next Saturday.
