Michigan State players as well as their head coach were on their worst behavior on Saturday.
A video circulating on social media shows Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker having an incident involving a fan who apparently touched his head as he walked into the tunnel postgame.
The caption below wrongly states “Mel Tucker swinging on a kid,” but you can clearly see that the person was a grown man.
Tucker didn’t address the altercation with the fan while speaking with the media after the game. He did issue a statement about the brutal tunnel fight involving his players, saying, “no excuse for behavior that puts our team or our opponents at risk.”
“As Spartans our program has a responsibility to uphold the highest level of sportsmanship. While emotions were very high at the conclusion of our rivalry game at Michigan Stadium, there is no excuse for behavior that puts our team or our opponents at risk.
“In complete cooperation with law enforcement, the Big Ten Conference and MSU and UM leadership, we will evaluate the events in Ann Arbor and take swift and appropriate action.”
