Graduating from post-secondary is among the most important moments in one’s life. So why not celebrate it in style?
We’ve seen some epic reveals behind costumes in masks in real-life (“The Masked Singer”), television shows, movies (“V For Vendetta”) and much more. And then there’s doing what a University of South Carolina student did at her graduation ceremony last week.
Sarah Sylvester, who graduated from South Carolina in biomedical engineering, took center stage in a viral clip by revealing herself as the school’s mascot during the graduation ceremony. As it turns out, she was the person behind the costume over the past two years.
Though Sylvester is finished as the school’s mascot, Cocky, she’ll continue to study at the university as she gets ready to commence her master’s degree, via Michaela Baker Taylor of the school’s communications and marketing team.
It’s hard to think of a better way to retire as the mascot. There’s a fun idea for current (and future) school mascots to keep in mind when it’s time to ride off into the sunset.
