Fresno State lost the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, but that wasn’t the only thing that went wrong with them on this day.
During the Bulldogs’ 28–20 double overtime loss to Northern Illinois, ESPN’s graphics team repeatedly could not get their nicknames correct.
They were referred to as the “Bulldongs.”

Fresno State once led the game 13-3 as it went to halftime, but the Huskies came out ready to work and tied the game with 10 unanswered second-half points.
The Bulldogs scored on the first possession of overtime, but NIU once again tied things up, sending the game to a second and final overtime.
That is when the Huskies scored on the first play of their next possession and got the two-point conversion to take a 28-20 lead.

Fresno State couldn’t answer that touchdown as they went four-and-out on their final possession in double overtime.
Their final game of the year had the Bulldogs ended the season with a 6-7 record under interim head coach Tim Skipper.
The Fresno State Bulldogs Are Getting Ready For A New Era
Fresno State lost the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Monday.
They would finish the year 6-7.
The loss ends one era and will begin another one as the Bulldogs hired former North Dakota State head coach Matt Entz as Fresno State’s full-time head coach.
Entz spent last season as the linebackers coach for the USC Trojans.
Prior to that position, Entz compiled a 60-11 record at North Dakota State, which included two FCS national titles.
