It is officially March Sadness after the NCAA made the grueling but necessary announcement Thursday it will cancel its March Madness basketball tournaments over growing concerns about the novel coronavirus pandemic.
That means no betting, no filling out brackets, and not seeing how many brackets get busted over a huge upset on the court.
On top of that, the fans were robbed of the memorable “One Shining Moment” tribute video that came after the tournament….or so we thought.
Someone decided to give of one anyway, but it had a coronavirus theme to it.
The NCAA canceled championships in all spring sports, including hockey, baseball and lacrosse.
“This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to the spread of the pandemic and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during the academic year given the ongoing decisions by other entities,” the NCAA said in statement.
