When Lincoln Riley abandoned the Oklahoma Sooners for the University of Southern California, he stated that it was his intention to make the USC Trojans the “Mecca of college football” once again.
Based on USC’s turnout for their spring game over the weekend, it appears as though Riley still has a long way to go towards accomplishing his lofty goal.
Photos emerged from the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, where USC was wrapping up their offseason with the annual Spring Game. You’d think the turnout to see new quarterback Caleb Williams do his thing would be impressive, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
In fact, compared to the turnout at Riley’s former team’s Spring Game in Norman, Oklahoma, the attendance at the Coliseum was downright embarrassing.
Mecca of college football? Needless to say, the internet didn’t forget those words from Riley, as they trolled the USC head coach and his team for their lack of fan support.

Not everyone was taking the opportunity to get at Riley, though. Many thought it was relevant to point out just how little there is to do in Norman compared to Los Angeles.
It’s too bad these teams don’t play each other. This rivalry is certainly heating up.
