The Heisman Trophy was handed out tonight in New York City, and for the second year in a row it went to a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
This time it was quarterback Bryce Young winning the award after leading Bama to a 12-1 record, an SEC Championship, and a trip to the College Football Playoff. Young is the first quarterback in Crimson Tide history to win the award, and he keeps the Heisman in Alabama after wide receiver DeVonta Smith won it last year.
Young also won the Maxwell Award, which is given to college football’s best player, and the Davey O’Brien Award, given to the best college quarterback. He finished the season with 4,322 passing yards, 43 passing touchdowns, and only four interceptions, while adding another three touchdowns on the ground.
The Sophomore quarterback beat out Michigan defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson, Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, and Ohio State QB CJ Stroud for the award.
