High school is certainly much more unorthodox compared to the college and NFL levels. That means that sometimes you need to get a little creative if you want to win. That’s exactly what Thomas Downy High School, located in Modesto, CA, did.
During a game, the special teams lined up for a punt, but once the snap occurred, some trickery made its way onto the field. Rather than punting the ball, the punter performed a 25-yard underhanded pass completed to a Thomas Downy receiver.
It was one of the most bizarre plays you’ll ever see on a football field and social media couldn’t get enough of the play from Thomas Downy.
“We’re going to see this at a higher level. Coaches keep an eye out for this type of thing,” one comment said.
“Ive never seen that before yet GOTTA BE ONE OF THE MOST TRICKEST PLAYS IN HISTORY!! Why is no one talkin about this” another said.
“A for execution, this time but a ball heaved straight up in the air is at best a 50/50 proposition and more likely than not picked off,” a third added about the Thomas Downy play.

“How to defend this: commit blatant pass interference. Iirc, you cannot be called for PI on a punt,” a fourth continued.
