Shedeur Sanders is quicker than people give him credit for.
Having played in five Power Five games this season, the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback has already proven he is a legitimate backfield threat and not simply the coach’s son. He thrust himself into the Heisman conversation in his first game, an upset against TCU, and is now tipped to go in the first round of next year’s NFL Draft.
Shedeur, 21, reached an impressive milestone while playing against the USC Trojans on Saturday that is yet to be reached by any starting QB in the league this season. According to the NFL Rookie Watch account on X, the Buffs star reached a speed of 20.1 MPH against the Trojans on the weekend, having run a touchdown in himself.
The account goes on to state that NFL scouts recon Sanders’ running ability is “underrated.”
While he was unable to fire Colorado to a win on Saturday, the 21-year-old put in a solid outing, passing for 371 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in what was a near comeback. The Buffs are now 3-2 for the season, having also lost to Oregon the previous weekend.
The QB has been excellent in fourth quarters so far this season, however, his team’s late starts are beginning to cost them games and his head coach Deion Sanders is hoping to correct that moving forward.

“Every play count, every series, (and) every down counts. Everything counts with us,” Sanders said Well Off Media this Monday (H/T SI). “You guys got to understand that right now. We can’t meander through the game and decide to hit the switch and turn it on. We’re not going to do that anymore and I’m going to take responsibility.”
The Buffaloes have a favorable schedule on the back of their loss to the Trojans, with the Arizona State Sun Devils set to be their next opponents.
