In the wake of the surprising announcement of Nick Saban’s retirement, the college football landscape is looking at a huge shift in the making.
Nick Saban is barely out the door and it seems like people are already trying to recruit Alabama players.
After legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban retired, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders immediately took to X in an effort to get Crimson Tide players to join his team:
Saban’s retirement and any head coaching change immediately triggers a 30-day transfer window for players at that school. Incoming players who have committed have already started announcing they are headed elsewhere. Things could look really bad for the program going forward as players want to play for Saban and do not know which head coach will be headed in as his replacement.
Colorado surely won’t be the only school interested in Alabama players as the Crimson Tide are loaded with talent every year in a testament to the program Saban built during his tenure.
The team just won the SEC title and reached the College Football Playoff.

247Sports’ composite rankings state Saban landed the No. 2 recruiting class in 2024, No. 1 class in 2023, and No. 2 class in 2022 so the talent is there, but will most of them stay is the question.
