Shedeur Sanders’ injury was shared with the world in a Sunday night vlog post by Well Off Media, which is run by Deion Sanders Jr.
Sanders, the star quarterback of the Colorado Buffaloes, missed Saturday’s season finale at Utah. A fractured back was the reason why quarterback Shedeur Sanders missed Colorado’s 23-17 loss to Utah to close out the 2023 season.
His injury was referenced at the 4:50 mark of the video posted by Well Off Media surrounding the game. In the video, he filmed his younger brother as they walked to the field at Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium for warmups on Saturday. It was already determined earlier last week that Shedeur wouldn’t be playing.
“Are they gonna say what happened to you when the game’s done?” Deion Jr. asked.
“I don’t think so,” Shedeur said.
“Because I want people to know,” Deion Jr. added.
Shedeur continued walking to the field and that is when Deion Jr. posted a text about the fracture in his brother’s back.

Freshman quarterback Ryan Staub filled in for Shedeur against the Utes and threw for 195 yards and a touchdown in the 23–17 loss.
Sanders left the game a week before at Washington State after suffering numbness in his hands and then an ankle injury.
Sanders had been pummeled in his first year in Boulder and sacked more than any other quarterback in the country. Things went downhill for the program after they came out of the gate with a 3-0 record.
Shedeur broke the school’s record for passing yards in a season which is now 3,230. He also finished just shy of Liufau’s mark of most passing touchdowns in a Buffaloes season, set at 28.
Sanders had 26 TD tosses in 2023 which is good for second in program history.
Colorado finished 4-8 in the first season under Prime.
