Colorado Buffaloes’ star quarterback Shedeur Sanders has garnered a ton of consideration for the Heisman Trophy after just three weeks…at least from the fans.
Shedeur and his father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, have led the Buffaloes to a surprising 3-0 start. After stunning the TCU Horned Frogs in the season opener, Colorado followed it up with consecutive home wins against the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Colorado State Rams.
According to John Ewing of BetMGM, 20.3 percent of the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner bets have been placed on Sanders, who has +1800 odds.
Reigning Heisman Trophy winner and USC quarterback Caleb Williams remains the overwhelming betting favorite with odds of +350 at BetMGM. He is followed by fellow quarterbacks in Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. (+550), Texas’ Quinn Ewers (+600), Notre Dame’s Sam Hartman (+900) and Florida State’s Jordan Travis (+1100).
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Shedeur has completed an impressive 78.7 percent of his pass attempts for 1,251 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception to go along with one rushing touchdown.
The late Rashaan Salaam is the only Buffaloes’ player to have won the Heisman Trophy. The standout running back won the honors in 1994, as well as the Walter Camp and Doak Walker Award honors.
