Sam Ehlinger might be one of the most puzzling prospects headed into the 2021 NFL draft. Not everybody is sold on him as an NFL QB, and questions remain about his arm strength and accuracy.
A video released on Saturday seemed to answer both of those questions as the former Texas Longhorns QB launched a ball 77 yards into the arms of an unmoving target.
“SaM EhLIngEr dOEsnt hAve A StROng aRm,” Ehlinger’s player development consultant Bobby Stroupe wrote above the video. “77 yards on a dime without putting the pedal all the way down. False narratives end on 3/11 at Texas pro day. Stay tuned.”
Through four seasons with the Longhorns — Ehlinger completed 62.5 percent on 1,476 pass attempts. He also threw for 11,436 yards and 94 touchdowns while running for 1,903 yards and 33 scores.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranked Ehlinger as the 10th-best quarterback in the 2021 draft class.
