Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has been offered a route out of the program following what was a third straight loss to Michigan over the weekend.
While the Wolverines did not have Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines for “The Game,” they managed to pull off a monumental win that saw them complete the season undefeated. They’re also set to play in the Big Ten Championship.
Day has come under a lot of criticism since the loss, though Ohio State is unlikely to fire him as he’s gone 56-7 overall. Still, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum reckons he should leave while he still has a chance.
“I think he’s got a real problem,” Finebaum offered. “I don’t like the path ahead…I think he’s a very good coach. But you can’t lose that game. That speaks for itself. I’d get out of there, while you can.”
The coach has received an offer since Saturday, although it’s not one he would have any interest in as it’s from a minor league baseball team.
“The Kalamazoo Growlers have formally extended an offer to Ohio State Football Coach Ryan Day for their 3rd base coaching position,” the team has announced via its official website.

“The position would begin in the middle of May, prior to the Growlers 11th season at Homer Stryker Field. The position would involve coaching 3rd base, surveillance and scouting.”
The Growlers also noted that Ryan was born for the position in what must be a cheeky dig as it seems like a reference to Harbaugh’s “born on third base” comment.
“We think Ryan was born for the position.” owner Brian Colopy said. “We will do whatever it takes to get Ryan to Kalamazoo.”
