Social media detectives reckon they have enough evidence to suggest that Urban Meyer is going to take over at Michigan State.
The Spartans are searching for a head coach for their football program, while Meyer works with FOX at the moment. And, though he has denied having an interest in the job, people aren’t taking his word for it, especially fans, plenty of whom seem to want him to succeed Tom Izzo.
Flight tracking among supporters has proven to be a decent enough method of finding out where the coaching carousel stops and it happens to be in play where Meyer is concerned.
The former Jacksonville Jaguars coach lives in Sarasota, Florida, and Michigan State’s private jet was spotted there this Thursday. The sighting set off conversations at SpartanMag as user “greenjo2” claimed to have the inside scoop.
“Okay, I’m inside Atlantic Aviation. I just completed a tour provided by the GM of the facility. He thinks I’m looking at having a potential meeting here,” they wrote. “Looks like there are 3 jets on the tarmac ready to go. There are some private meeting rooms that were being used. Not sure who was in there.”
“9:40 black suburban just pulled around back,” greenjo2 posted a few minutes later. He added that he was “fairly confident” he had just seen Michigan State’s athletic director.

He then reported having seen a grey-haired man in a suit board the jet with someone looking like AD Alan Haller and spoke to a security guard at the Sarasota airport’s executive terminal who told him that officials from Michigan State were on the flight.
Also lending to all of this are claims that Meyer’s former defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs and former strength and conditioning coach Niko Palazeti are in Cincinnati.
