Former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard announced Tuesday on social media where he will be transferring to.
Leonard played three seasons at Duke, including two under coach Mike Elko, who recently became head coach at Texas A&M.
Leonard, who was widely considered to be one of the best quarterbacks available in the transfer portal, announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Tuesday.
Notre Dame continues to land coveted quarterbacks from the Transfer Portal. Two years ago it was Jack Coan. Last year it was Sam Hartman. Now it’s Riley Leonard.
Leonard was limited to seven games in the 2023 campaign due to injuries.

In those seven appearances, he completed 95-of-165 passes for 1,102 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions while adding 353 rushing yards and four scores.
The 6-foot-4, 212-pounder did have a monster sophomore year in 2022 where Leonard went 250-of-391 for 2,967 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also tallied 699 rushing yards and 13 more touchdowns on the ground.
Leonard, who was a team captain for Duke this fall, was a 3rd team preseason All-ACC selection by Phil Steele and was one of only three returning FBS starting quarterbacks to amass 2,900+ passing yards 695+ rushing yards during the previous season.
