CBS and Turner hired Rex Chapman to serve as an analyst during March Madness, and the early stages of the relationship have been quite rough.
On Saturday, Chapman wanted to pay tribute to a former head coach and the life he lived. Only one problem is that the former coach is still living that life.
Chapman, a former Kentucky basketball star and veteran NBA player, was talking about Providence advancing to the Sweet 16 when he mentioned their former coach, Pete Gillen, and said “rest in peace.”
Pete Gillen is not only still alive, but currently in the public eye working for CBS.
“The first time since 25 years ago when Pete Gillen had God Shamgod — rest in peace, Pete Gillen,” Chapman said.
Chapman corrected his error when the program returned from a commercial break.
