Bronny James could be on the move, according to a surprising report that’s come out this week.
Longtime college basketball reporter Dick Weiss reported that the Trojans guard will enter the transfer portal, having completed his freshman season with the program. The report has been doing the rounds online, leading to various rumors and suggestions all pointing to where Bronny could end up.
“USC freshman guard Bronny James is entering the transfer portal. good for him. needs to get away from the Hollywood hype. best of luck to LeBron’s kid,” Weiss tweeted.
Weiss is known for breaking news on social media and is typically way ahead of the mainstream sources. However, there is a feeling he may have gotten duped on this one as he has since deleted his tweet.
It’s possible his post was based on an April Fools post from a different X account. The writer retweeted said post, shown below, suggesting he may have been fooled.

Given that he took down his own tweet, Weiss likely fell for a fake report which was pretty successful in duping thousands of sports fans and media outlets. Several of them shared what they believed was news of Bronny’s decision to enter the portal.
Brony James Has Not Confirmed Or Denied Whether He’s leaving USC
Bronny James has yet to confirm whether he will be entering the portal while no other college basketball reporter has been able to share anything on his supposed decision to leave the Trojans.
What we do know is that the player is unlikely to enter the NBA Draft given his poor numbers as a first-year player for the program.
Bronny, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, was the victim of a near-fatal cardiac incident that put his basketball career in Jeopardy. He returned to the court way sooner than expected, but it’s had a telling impact on his NBA prospects.
