Another pro football player has been arrested this offseason.
Justin Layne, a cornerback for the Steelers, was arrested by police on several charges including improper handling of a weapon in a motor vehicle and speeding.
Melinda Roeder of KDKA Radio had some additional details:
“Willoughby Hill Police Chief confirms Justin Layne also had outstanding warrant for his arrest on traffic violation,” Roeder said. “Marijuana was found in the car, along with a loaded 9mm Glock. 2 men in car with him are not charged.”
Layne, a former third-round pick from Michigan State, played his high school football at Benedictine High School in Cleveland, Ohio.
In 2020, Layne appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and recorded 22 tackles and no interceptions or pass deflections.
