A female tragically fell to her death during Ohio State’s commencement ceremony at the Ohio Stadium on Sunday, but she wasn’t immediately identified as tests needed to be carried out.
“An individual fell from the stands. They are deceased,” an Ohio State spokesperson said on the day. “We have no additional details to share at this time. Police and emergency responders are on the scene. For anyone affected by today’s incident, we will make counseling and other support resources available.”
The individual has since been identified, with WOSU News’ George Shillcock reporting that Larissa Brady was the one who lost her life. Brady, who was 53 years old, was identified by her fingerprints. But the cause of the fall hadn’t been disclosed at the time of writing.
“The Franklin County Coroner confirmed that 53-year-old Larissa Brady was the person who tragically died Sunday at Ohio State’s commencement. She was positively ID’d by fingerprints today,” Shillcock shared on Tuesday morning. “No word on the manner of her death yet from OSUPD or the Coroner.”

The ceremony reportedly continued without interruption after Larissa Brady fell to her death on the day.

Ohio State hasn’t released a statement since the identification, but they are expected to at some point.
The incident must have been a traumatic one for the folks who were present at the ceremony, while Larissa’s family will also be in shock after such an unexpected passing.
