The new age of college athletes having the ability to profit off of their name, image and likeness is still getting its feet wet as the athletes are doing everything humanly possible to finally put money in their pockets while in college.
Oklahoma redshirt sophomore quarterback Spencer Rattler quickly became the unofficial face of this era in collegiate sports due to his social media following and placement as one of the elite players in college football.
Per Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal, Rattler will sign autographs at the National Sports Collector Convention and will be cashing in by charging fans $150 a pop.
“Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler, the Heisman Trophy favorite, is the first CFB player to sign autographs at the National Sports Collectors Convention,” Mullen said on Twitter. “He’s signing today for $150 per autograph.”
In 11 games played last season, Rattler completed 67.5 percent of his throws for 3,031 yards and 28 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He also added 81 carries for 160 yards and six scores.
In the Cotton bowl, he threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns against the Florida Gators.
