LSU Tigers gymnast Konnor McClain had to be helped off the floor ahead of Saturday’s Core Hydration Classic, according to The Athletic’s Dana O’Neil.
McClain was preparing for the floor routine after posting a 14.2 on the balance beam at the event when the injury occurred. The extent of her injury remains unclear.
She later withdrew with an Achilles injury, per the broadcast.
Following her All-Around first season at LSU, Konnor McClain assisted the Tigers in winning a national championship for the first time in program history. She had several outstanding performances, one of which was on the balance beam at the SEC Championships, where she scored one of her two 10.0s.
Last month, LSU defeated Florida, Utah, and Cal with a team score of 198.225 to win its first-ever national championship. SEC Gymnast of the Year Haleigh Bryant led that effort, winning the all-around competition with a score of 39.7125.
LSU coach Jay Clark said McClain will undergo an MRI on Sunday after she returns to Baton Rouge.

LSU Gymnast Konnor McClain Really Wanted To Make The 2024 U.S. Olympic Team
2022 U.S. national all-around champion Konnor McClain was looking quite good en route to make the 2024 U.S. Olympic team, but an unfortunate injury derailed her.
The Las Vegas native made a great start on the balancing beam, her area of expertise. She placed third with a 14.200, only behind the gold medallists in the 2020 Olympics for the all-around, Suni Lee (14.600) and Simone Biles (14.550).
Unfortunately, an Achilles injury during warmups required her to be helped off the mat, effectively ending all hopes of her making it to Paris.
