Kansas State is currently tied for third in the Big 12 with a 4-2 record, but the team is more worried about linebacker Alec Marenco’s health going forward.
The Kansas State linebacker was injured during a head-on crash Wednesday morning, according to WIBW.
Following the accident, Marenco was taken to a local hospital.
KSNT provided more details about what happened as police arrived on the scene on Wednesday and found that a Jeep Cherokee had crossed the center line and been driving into oncoming traffic.
A GMC Sierra swerved to avoid the oncoming Jeep but ended up hitting it as the Jeep returned to the correct lane, resulting in a head-on collision.
The driver of the GMC was the Kansas State linebacker.
Despite the head-on collision, Marenco was released from the hospital.

Marenco is a senior hailing from El Paso, Texas. He has only appeared in one game during the 2024 season. He transferred from New Mexico during the offseason.
His best year as a college linebacker came in 2023 when he compiled 66 total tackles, three passes defended, and a forced fumble.
