In the second quarter of the Thursday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos — Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes converted a quarterback sneak on 4th-and-1 and suffered a scary leg injury that had him unable to stand until medical personnel popped his kneecap back in place.
By the time the 3rd quarter started, James Palmer was reporting that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes suffered a patella (kneecap) dislocation, but no fracture.
The plan is for Mahomes to get an MRI on Friday to determine there’s any ligament damage.
David Chao would go on to further explain that the Chiefs can hope for is a return in a few weeks with a brace, but these injuries can require surgery and possibly be a season-ending issue.

The 24-year-old is currently in the third year of his four-year, $16.4 million contract and set to make base salaries of $645,000 and $735,000 over the final two years of the agreement.
