Three prominent college football programs appear to the favorites to land Oregon State Beavers quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei via the transfer portal.
Last week, the 22-year–old Uiagalelei announced that he was entering the transfer portal after the Beavers lost head coach Jonathan Smith, who left to take the Michigan State Spartans’ HC position.
Speaking with Kelsey Riggs on Tuesday’s edition of “College Football Live”, ESPN insider Pete Thamel reported that Florida State, Louisville and Mississippi State are emerging as potential landing spots for Uiagalelei through the transfer portal.
Several other big-named NCAA quarterbacks are also in the transfer portal and set to meet with teams, Thamel added. This includes Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel meeting with Oregon and Duke’s Riley Leonard meeting with Notre Dame, Thamel added.
Uiagalelei and the No. 19 ranked Beavers currently sit 8-4 as they prepare to wrap up their season against the Fighting Irish in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on Dec. 29.
Before transferring to Oregon State for 2023, Uiagalelei played for the Clemson Tigers from 2020 to 2022.

Uiagalelei’s excellent 2023 season with the Beavers was highlighted by victories over the No. 10 ranked Utah Utes and No. 18 ranked UCLA Bruins on Sept. 29 and Oct. 14, respectively. Uiagalelei nearly led his Beavers to an upset over the Washington Huskies (now No. 2) on Nov. 18, but they dropped a close one 22-20.
The 6-foot-4, 252-pound Uiagalelei has completed 57.1 percent of his pass attempts this season for 2,638 yards and 21 touchdowns against only seven interceptions. On the ground, Uiagalelei has 219 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
