Monte Harrison is returning to school to attempt his hand at college football for Arkansas, having played three seasons of major league baseball during his nearly ten years as a professional baseball player.
According to Richard Davenport of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the 28-year-old has committed to play football for Arkansas in college. He will represent the Razorbacks as a wide receiver.
Even if this is unprecedented, he has experience playing football.
According to 247Sports, Harrison was a 4-star recruit and the seventh-best player in the state of Missouri for the class of 2014. In his final season, he amassed 198 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, and a passing touchdown in addition to his 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and 13 touchdowns, according to Kosko of On3.com.
Prior to receiving offers from Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, Kansas, and Arkansas, Harrison had committed to Nebraska. Nevertheless, he decided to pursue a baseball career after being selected in the second round by the Milwaukee Brewers in that same year.

Regretfully, Harrison needed some time to establish himself on the diamond. Prior to joining the Miami Marlins in the major leagues in 2020, he played in the minor levels for six years. That season, he participated in 32 games, hitting .170 with three RBI and one home run. The following season, he made nine appearances before being sent back to Triple-A.
Harrison, who made his last appearance in the majors with the Los Angeles Angels in 2022, intends to return to the NCAA.
Soon-To-Be Arkansas WR Monte Harrison Could Possibly Help Improve The Razorbacks In 2024
Monte Harrison is joining an Arkansas team that went 4-8 in 2023 and finished last in the SEC West.
The 28-year-old will no doubt be older than his teammates, but he may have the experience that could help the program turn things around in 2024.
The Razorbacks have just two seasons above .500 since 2017.
