Arch Manning’s prospects at Texas don’t look that great, despite the quarterback’s electric performance for the Longhorns last weekend.
At least, that’s how Tim Tebow sees it.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has the kind of headache that every coach wants, with two star quarterbacks at his disposal. But he will have to navigate this one carefully as a decision will need to be made soon enough.
Manning replaced starter Quinn Ewers after the latter went down injured against UTSA on Saturday and put in quite a performance. He completed 9/12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns, also taking off on a pacey 67-yard run for a score himself.
Still, Tebow sees Ewers returning under center as soon as he’s cleared to play. The former NFL QB also expects the 21-year-old to keep his position as the starter until the end of the season.
“I think Quinn is the guy, and you have an elite backup who’s going to be also probably an elite player, maybe a superstar, and I’m excited to see that,” he said, via On3. “But right now, I really believe it’s Quinn’s time. It’s Quinn’s team. But how fortunate are you that you have another incredible player right behind him?”

Arch Manning Will Take Control Of the Longhorns Once Quinn Ewers Leaves
Quinn Ewers, who decided to forego the NFL Draft and return to Texas in hopes of leading the program to a national championship in his last year, is listed as day-to-day and will remain out this weekend.
Arch Manning was fully aware that he would be the backup throughout the term, so he shouldn’t be surprised when the time comes for him to return to the bench.
“Do they have the best quarterback room in the country? Probably with both of them,” Tebow added. “Could Arch be an elite quarterback right now? Yes, probably. But I don’t think that you have a controversy.”
Arch will be the undisputed leader of the team once Quinn moves on at the end of the season. He will hope to leave on a high note.
