Quinn Ewers has shared his thoughts on Texas teammate Arch Manning ahead of the Longhorns’ College Football Playoff matchup vs. Washington.
Manning is set to play backup to Ewers when the aforementioned sides clash in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day, with Texas boasting one of the most enviable quarterback rooms in the country.
Manning is one of the highest-rated quarterbacks in college yet isn’t even starting, which just goes to show how much of a talent Ewers is. The QB has had an excellent season in which he’s led the Longhorns to the CFP, having completed 70.7 percent of his passes while throwing for 3,161 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
Ewers was asked about Manning while speaking to the media on Friday and had a lot of praise for his backup.
“Arch is a great kid,” he declared. “It’s cool to be in the same quarterback room as him. His family has got a lot of great history, especially in this state. He’s learned a lot and has grown a lot this whole year. It’s cool to see his growth.”
Manning will have an opportunity to show what he can do as a starter at Texas but might need to wait another year as it appears that Ewers will be back in 2024.

For now, the focus will be on beating Washington as a victory would send Texas to its first National Title game since 2009.
