It’s not often that we see haymakers thrown during a basketball game, but Friday night’s game between Kansas State and Providence was an obvious exception.
At one point during the game (which Kansas State won in overtime, 73-70), tempers flared resulting in an ugly incident that’s rarely seen on the hardcourt.
During the play, the Wildcats’ Dai Dai Ames appeared to get his arms high in the face area of Providence’s Garwey Dual as he tried to make some room for himself in the offensive end of the court.
Believing that the shot was intentional, Dual retaliated by taking a massive swing at Ames’ head with a mean right hook. Thankfully, it didn’t connect and the coaches were able to break things up before the situation escalated any further.
Both players were ejected as a result of the altercation, but you can bet that there will be further punishment for Dual, who will likely be facing a long suspension from the NCAA once they’re able to review the incident.
