The quarterback boasting the wildest name in college football, General Booty, is heading into the 2024 season as a starter.
Booty, who became a fan favorite during his recruitment period thanks to his name, entered the transfer portal after two years at Oklahoma. He made two appearances for the Sooners during his time in Norman, none of them starts.
According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, he is expected to be named a starter for Louisiana-Monroe this year.
General Booty, 22, kicked his college career off at Tyler Junior College, passing for over 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2021 before transferring to OU.
There Was Plenty Of Interest In General Booty After He Decided To Transfer
General Booty received multiple offers after entering the portal at the end of last season, with Samford and Louisiana-Monroe ending up tugging for him at the end. He ultimately chose to join the latter.

“The fun thing about General Booty too is, like, he’s a baller,” On3’s Pete Nakos noted earlier this year. “He threw for 3,000 yards at Tyler Junior College before he got to Oklahoma. This guy is a baller. Now I guess we’re going to have a battle over Samford and Louisiana-Monroe.”
“He just needs a chance to play. Like, once he’s starting, he’s QB1 somewhere? Like, the NIL market on that team just goes through the roof,” said outlet’s Andy Staples remarked. “So, whether he’s a ULM Warhawk, a Samford Bulldog, a Tulsa Hurricane? Like, whatever it is, that will be a boom to that particular program. Imagine being the center snapping to General Booty? Like, there has to be some NIL dollars in that!”
There was also interest from a Power Five School, with the player revealing Iowa wanted him to serve as Cade McNamara’s backup next season, but he opted to fight for the starting job with the Warhawks and eventually beat Reese Mooney and Hunter Herring.
He will take the first reps when the program begins its campaign against Jackson State next Thursday.
