The Ohio State Buckeyes have dismissed a walk-on player with less than a week to go until the National Championship game.
The Buckeyes are scheduled to play Notre Dame on January 20 in what will be the final college football game of the 2024 season. A win over the Fighting Irish would more than make up for losing to rivals Michigan in their last four meetings.
Whatever the result ends up being, Caden Davis will not be part of the experience.
The defensive lineman, a content creator known more for his TikTok videos than for anything he’s done in an OSU uniform, has been released from the program.
That is according to a team spokesperson who informed The Lantern of the development on Wednesday.
The outlet reports confirming this through the school’s information director, Jerry Emig.

Ohio State Buckeyes Walk-On Caden Davis Confirms His Exit By Sharing Social Media Post
Davis has also released a statement confirming his exit, thanking the coaches, staff, and players for allowing him to realize his dream of becoming a part of the team.
“Being a buckeye has always been a dream come true of mine since being a kid. I am so very appreciative to the coaches, staff, and players for welcoming me into the team,” he wrote as part of an Instagram post. “I truly cannot thank them enough for allowing me to live my dream for the last 2 years and mentoring me the way they have. With changes in the NCAA and personal career reasons I will not be a PWO at the OSU. I appreciate the support of everyone and your help to respect my privacy about the decision made. Thank you, Go Bucks.”
The Lantern notes that the DL’s following grew by over 300,000 users across Instagram, TikTok, and X.
His content was mostly behind-the-scenes footage from the program’s facilities, life on campus, and various media events. He also posted videos to TikTok showing off the perks he received as a member of the football team.
Davis did not play a single snap during his two-year tenure with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The school did not give a reason for his dismissal.
He will be supporting from the outside when they play Notre Dame in the biggest game of the year, though he will likely rue how things turned out.
