A mini-brawl broke out during a basketball game between the Maryland Terrapins and Michigan Wolverines’ women’s sides earlier this week.
With the teams squaring off on Wednesday night, things got feisty in the third quarter, with punches even thrown.
It started when one of the players dribbled the ball off an opponent’s foot and two players got tangled up trying to secure possession. The whistle blew while they fought over the ball but they kept at it until a Wolverines player threw an elbow and a punch. The opposing player attempted to get a punch off too, but her teammates and the officials stepped in to break it up.
They were both assessed technicals and ejected from the game.
As shown above, the Terrapins were ahead 52-44 when the scuffle began. However, the Wolverines rallied back to win 79-77 as Maryland only attempted nine shots in the first quarter.
