The amount college football players will be paid to have their likenesses included in ‘College Football 25’ has been revealed.
According to a report from The Athletic, players from all 134 FBS programs have been invited to “opt in” to be part of the upcoming video game as they’re set to be paid for their inclusion for the first time.
A spokesperson for EA Sports has told the publication that all players who opt in will be paid $600 and be given a copy of the game, which is valued at $70. Players who do not opt in will be depicted with a generic avatar.
“A number of college athletes, both within football and outside of it, will also become ambassadors for the game and receive additional NIL compensation. Players who do not opt in will be represented with a generic player avatar, as Barry Bonds famously was in many MLB video games.”
Plenty of fans reckon the sum is way too low.

Players have up until April 30 to opt in.
Over 11,000 student-athletes are expected to be part of the title, making the venture the largest group NIL partnership since the introduction of the program in 2021.
According to a OneTeam spokesperson, the earlier players opt in, the earlier they can get paid.
Players will be paid annually as they sign up for the length of their college eligibility and can opt out of the game if they feel so inclined.
