A college basketball player has gone viral online after appearing to flip off a referee during a game on Tuesday night.
NC State guard DJ Horne found himself in the spotlight after giving fans a show, holding up double birds after a referee told him something. The official had a few words for Horne – and, based on his reaction, they may have been negative as the player waited until he turned around to flip him off.
While the ref didn’t see, everyone else did. We can’t be sure as to whether it was really directed at the ref or if it was for the opposing team, but fans seemed to enjoy it all the same.
Horne has since apologized for the NSFW gesture.
“My sincere apologies for what happened at the end of the game,” he wrote on X after the game. “I got caught up in the heat of the moment and made a disrespectful gesture that I should have never done. That’s not who I am!”
