Nobody could’ve seen this move coming after such an illustrious career in the NFL that produced multiple championships.
The six-time Super Bowl champion, who has never coached at the collegiate level, will now take over after Mack Brown was fired.

Belichick agreed Wednesday to a five-year deal with the Tar Heels.
This shocking move comes nearly a year after he and the New England Patriots ended their partnership after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl titles.
“I am excited for the opportunity at UNC-Chapel Hill. I grew up around college football with my Dad and treasured those times,” Belichick said in a statement.
“I have always wanted to coach in college and now I look forward to building the football program in Chapel Hill.”

Bill Belichick is taking over a North Carolina Football program that has been to five straight bowl games but has lost four of them.
Since 1914, the program has had seven seasons with double-digit wins. The last one came in 2015, but they also lost in the Russell Athletic Bowl.
Belichick, widely regarded as the most successful coach in NFL history, could very well take this program to heights it has never reached.
