Penn State entered their home playoff game against the ACC’s SMU Mustangs as heavy favorites, but the Nittany Lions still weren’t taking any chances with their foes today.
For the first time ever, college football teams are playing legit home games in front of their fans during the playoffs under the new CFP format. In the first game of today’s three-game slate, it was Penn State playing host to SMU, and they made sure that their home-field advantage gave them as big of an edge as possible.
As part of their effort to eliminate any trace of SMU support inside Beaver Stadium, Penn State opted to seat the Mustangs’ band in the worst possible seats they could find.
It’s even worse when you consider the fact that SMU was only allotted 3,500 tickets inside the 106,000-seat stadium.
You’re telling me they couldn’t find something a little closer for the Mustangs’ band?

Mustangs quarterback Kevin Jennings has been especially rattled by the hostile territory, throwing three interceptions, including two that were returned for touchdowns.
Those two pick-sixes accounted for Penn State’s first two scores, and SMU hasn’t had a single answer since. They’re going to need one heck of a second half if they’re going to have any chance at advancing to play Boise State in the quarterfinals on New Years Eve.
