The Oregon Ducks may have already landed a marquee starting quarterback in Dillon Gabriel via the transfer portal for 2024, but that’s not stopping them from meeting with another big-named QB.
Per Pete Nakos of On3.com, UCLA Bruins star quarterback Dante Moore is set to visit Oregon this week. Even though the Ducks managed to land in Gabriel via the transfer portal, Nakos explained that Moore “is still open to landing at Oregon”, as he’s eyeing “a place to be developed.”
A former five-star recruit, Moore starred at Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School in Detroit and initially committed to the Ducks. However, the 18-year-old changed his mind and instead committed to UCLA for the 2023 season.
Oregon’s starting quarterback, Bo Nix, is one of the top 2024 NFL Draft quarterback prospects. He hasn’t yet declared for the draft, but it’s widely expected that the 23-year-old will do so very soon.
As for Gabriel, the former Oklahoma Sooner will most certainly open next year as the Ducks’ starter after a stellar 2023 season. Gabriel completed 69.3 percent of his pass attempts for 3,660 yards and 30 touchdowns against only six interceptions to go along with 373 rushing yards and 12 rushing scores.
The No. 8 ranked Ducks (11-2) will wrap up their 2023 season when they meet Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Day.
