After seven seasons in Eugene, a prominent player is heading off to greener pastures.
Oregon Ducks tight end Cam McCormick is leaving the program. The fan favorite took to social media and announced that he would be entering the transfer portal.
“I came to Eugene at 17 years old and grew up in front of you all. It’s time for me to spread my wings and continue my journey elsewhere,” McCormick wrote in a note posted on social media.”This has been an extremely difficult decision, but I will be entering the transfer portal to continue my 2 remaining years of eligibility. I have nothing but love for the Ducks, and always will.”
After redshirting as a freshman in 2016, McCormick played in all 13 games for the Ducks in 2017 and hauled in six passes for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Injuries would slow down his career after he suffered a season-ending injury in the 2018 season opener and went on to miss the entire 2019 and 2020 campaigns.
In 2021, he played in two games before his season would be cut short again by injury. In 2022, he posted career-highs in receptions (10) and receiving touchdowns (three).
