Olivia Pichardo, the first-ever woman to play D-I baseball, found that out the hard way before a Boston Red Sox game. Invited to throw the game’s first pitch, she made a regrettable one as the ball ended up pretty far away from the catcher, despite his best efforts.
As you would expect, the sexists came out in full force with claims there’s no place in baseball for women and that it’s a man’s sport and blah blah…

In any case, Pichardo could still feel pretty good about her pitch, given it was a lot better than the one Travis Kelce threw some time ago. So much for being a man’s sport eh?
The Brown University player made history back in November when she made the program’s roster as a walk-on freshman. She boasts the milestone of being the first woman to be named to a D-I baseball squad.

She achieved another feat in March, having made a plate appearance in a college game to become the first woman to do so.
Pichardo joined the USA Baseball Women’s National Team last year, featuring in a five-game series against Canada, making four starts in the outfield and one as a pitcher.
Unfortunately, her latest pitch is one she wishes she could get back.
