LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne attempted a prank on her MLB boyfriend, Paul Skenes, but it did not go as she thought it would.
In an amusing turn of events, the LSU gymnast posted to her fans that she was going to pull off an elaborate prank on her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, a former LSU pitcher and the first overall MLB pick, now with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The prank involved her claiming she had gotten an endorsement deal for underwater welding on an oil rig.
“So right now I’m going to prank call my boyfriend and tell him I’m going on an influencer trip to an oil rig to do underwater welding,” Dunne said at the start of the video. “I want to see what he says. I keep seeing this trend everywhere and it’s so fun.”
“It’s a deal and it just came in, but I kinda already agreed to it,” Dunne told Skenes. “Have you ever heard of the brand ExxonMobil. Well, after the season there’s a two-day trip to Texas to go on an oil rig… to do some underwater welding. I’d have to be in scuba gear welding things.”
As she attempts to hold in her laughter while explaining her trip, it becomes increasingly clear that she cannot prank Paul as he shows nothing but support for her.

“You can do it,” Skenes replied. “Is it dangerous? You physically can do it. They’re not going to ask you to do something you can’t do.”
Even in the face of an absurd scenario that would put her in immediate danger, he chose to back Dunne, showcasing a strong foundation of mutual respect and understanding between the couple.
Dunne became the top-earning NCAA female athlete after the NCAA agreed to the new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) policy in July 2021, allowing student-athletes to accept sponsorship deals.
Dunne made upwards of $500,000 from a single paid promotion on social media, she said on a recent podcast last year.
Last year alone, the Louisiana State University gymnast worked with ESPN, BodyArmor, Sports Illustrated, and Motorola.
