The LSU women’s basketball team is likely still celebrating their national title win after beating Iowas this past Sunday. But they aren’t the only women’s program from Louisiana State University enjoying the moment as the gymnastics team is also coming off a big weekend.
The Tigers, ranked sixth, have secured progression to the Elite Eight of the 2023 NCAA Championships after finishing second to the University of Denver on the weekend.
While Olivia Dunne did not take part, the 20-year-old was every bit as happy as her teammates on the back of the result.
“The beat goes on. We weren’t perfect, but this team just continues to fight and do enough to keep it going,” head coach Jay Clark said. “I’m just so proud of them and their spirt and who they are as people. They do it for each other. This is a special group and it makes it that much sweeter that we got through it in the fashion that we did against some very good teams.”
Though Dunne wasn’t in action, she watched on as the Tigers won a tiebreaker against the University of Michigan to advance, while they also logged the second-highest regional score in LSU history.
The social media sensation took to TikTok after the result, as she’s wont to do, posting a video of herself dancing in the hotel room alongside teammate Elena Arenas.

Arenas posted the Tigers’ highest vault score, also participating in the balance beam and floor exercise.
“It’s a great day to be a Tiger,” Livvy wrote in the comments.
The video had garnered 2.1 million views and close to 300K likes at the time of writing.
Next up for LSU will be second-ranked Florida, No. 7 California, and No. 14 Denver for a place in the National Championship set for April 15.
