Olivia Dunne’s mom has spoken up in her daughter’s defense in the wake of fans trying to blame her for unruly supporter behavior.
Olivia is now one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, despite still being in college, so it’s no wonder everyone wants a piece of her.
Dunne and LSU had their first meet against Utah this past Friday and everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the gymnast turned social media celebrity. Things got pretty rowdy, to the point where LSU had to shift their team bus, while Olivia and her teammates needed a police escort to get out of the building.
Dunne has been taking heat from fans who reckon she’s to blame for the behavior of the fans in question, but her mom Katherine is having none of it.
One fan tweeted that Olivia’s mom should have a talk with her as her provocative brand is what caused all the disrespect, though they noted they don’t condone the uncouth fan behavior.

“It is not ok to blame any athlete/celebrity when fan behavior crosses the line,” Katherine wrote in response. “In a sport where all the girls wear nothing but leotards stop suggesting that how Livvy dresses means she deserves this in any way. Stop shaming girls for the behavior of boys.”
Olivia must be used to being the center of attention by now. But Friday’s was different and unwanted.
