Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day had an interesting response to a question regarding Michigan Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh.
Per Chase Brown, Day was asked by a reporter if he respects the head coach of the Buckeyes’ archrival team. The 44-year-old Day, however, decided to steer clear of stirring the pot by emphasizing that the Buckeyes are “focused on” themselves.
“With everything going on and all of the things that are out there, we have stayed away from the distractions and focused on our team,” Day said. “We’re just going to continue to do that.”
Two weeks ago, the Big Ten announced that Harbaugh would be suspended for Michigan’s final three regular season games due to in-person scouting violations as well as allegations that the Wolverines engaged in an illegal sign-stealing scheme.
Harbaugh also served a three-game suspension to start the year due to NCAA recruiting violations. As a result of the two suspensions, many wonder if Harbaugh will be let go by the Wolverines, or if he’ll decide to leave on his own altogether.
There is also plenty of speculation that Harbaugh will again be highly-sought in the next NFL head coaching hiring cycle. Before coming to Michigan in 2015, Harbaugh served as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2013. He led the club to three straight NFC Championship Games plus a trip to Super Bowl 47, where they lost to the Baltimore Ravens (coached by his older brother, John).
