Former Ohio State Buckeyes star quarterback Kyle McCord has announced the next chapter of his NCAA football career.
On Sunday, the 21-year-old McCord announced on X/Twitter that he will be joining the Syracuse Orange after a three-year stint with the Buckeyes. McCord will take over the starting reins from Garrett Shrader, the school’s starting QB over the last three years.
Despite a successful year at Ohio State, McCord announced his plans to enter the transfer portal earlier this month. It was reported that McCord opted to leave Ohio State for two key reasons: 1. The fact that head coach Ryan Day wouldn’t guarantee him the starting job for 2024 and 2. McCord will be able to make more money through NIL deals at another school.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound McCord has completed 65.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns against six interceptions. The Buckeyes will finish their 2023 season against No. 9 ranked Missouri in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 29.
