Michigan football may be undefeated and ranked in the top five, but the sign-stealing scandal continues to grow by the day. The Michigan football program remains in hot water as the NCAA investigates the Wolverines in regard to an alleged sign-stealing scheme.
Now there is an investigation at Michigan on how their sign-stealing scandal came out and reached the NCAA, according to The Wolverine’s Chris Balas. The investigation reportedly centers on family members of Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.
Chris Balas of On3Sports reports Michigan is “gathering evidence on two private investigators they believe are behind the investigation into U-M’s alleged illegal on-site scouting.” The report suggested those two are also responsible for leaks to the media that have turned their program upside down.
The people in question have ties to Ryan Day’s brothers.

“Reporters are working to put the pieces together, but we know Michigan is currently in possession of documents that could link one of the alleged investigators to Day’s younger brother, Timothy Day. The other they suspect is linked to Day’s brother, Christopher, and was also a classmate of Tim Day’s in New Hampshire. One currently runs a private investigation firm in Manchester, N.H., Day’s hometown.
In addition, other sources at Michigan allege some of the evidence — specifically, a spreadsheet provided to the Washington Post with analyst Connor Stalions’ travel plans and budget for his operation in which he allegedly paid people to video opposing teams’ signs — was obtained by gaining access to his computer illegally. Upon investigation, more sources indicated law enforcement has begun looking into the source of the information as a result.”
Last month, Michigan suspended assistant Connor Stalions after the NCAA launched an investigation into alleged sign stealing by the Wolverines. He allegedly purchased tickets in his own name for more than 30 college football games at 11 Big Ten schools in the past three years, according to ESPN.
One of those games was reportedly Ohio State vs. Penn State as Michigan has not yet faced either Penn State or Ohio State in the 2023 season. Those games are Nov. 11 and Nov. 25.
