The Ohio State Buckeyes have landed another prized quarterback for the 2024 season via the transfer portal.
Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, former Kansas State Wildcats star quarterback Will Howard has announced that he’s transferring to Ohio State. The 22-year-old had spent each of his first four collegiate seasons with the Wildcats.
The 6-foot-5, 214-pound Howard is coming off the best season of his collegiate career. In 2023, Howard completed 61.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,643 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions to go along with 351 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
Ohio State has been quite the quarterback factory in recent years. The late Dwayne Haskins (2019), Chicago Bears star Justin Fields (2021) and Houston Texans rookie C.J. Stroud (2023) were all first-NFL round picks.
The Buckeyes started out a perfect 11-0 and were in contention to qualify for the four-team postseason tournament. However, that dream ended when they fell 30-24 to the archrival Michigan Wolverines on Nov. 25.
Ohio State’s season ended on a sour note when they lost 14-3 to the Missouri Tigers in the Cotton Bowl. Starting QB Kyle McCord did not play that game, with backup Devon Brown instead getting the nod.

Brown suffered an injury early in that game and did not return. That prompted Ryan Day to put in Lincoln Kienholz, who struggled with six completions on 17 attempts for 86 yards, no touchdowns and zero picks.
