Saturday afternoon’s showdown between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the NC State Wolfpack has been suspended due to weather concerns.
The NC State Guest Services announced on X (previously known as “Twitter”) that there was lightning within 15 miles of the Wolfpack’s home venue of Carter-Finley Stadium.
For safety concerns, the game has been suspended. Guest services also asked the fans in attendance to return to their vehicles for safety.
The Fighting Irish held a 3-0 lead before play got suspended, with kicker Spencer Shrader putting up a 54-yard field goal for the visitors. Quarterbacks Sam Hartman (Notre Dame) and Brennan Armstrong (NC State) combined for just 49 yards passing before the game was suspended.
Notre Dame is looking to improve to a 3-0 start following blowout wins over Navy (42-3) and Tennessee State (56-3) to open the season. The Wolfpack opened their season with a 24-14 victory over UConn on Aug. 31.
