Duke quarterback Riley Leonard decided to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday and there already seems to be one team that may already be interested. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports Notre Dame is expected to be interested in adding Leonard this offseason.
The Fighting Irish may want him, but some are calling them out for tampering with him by establishing early contact with the Duke signal-caller before the end of the season.
As soon as their interest was announced publicly, many jumped into the comments to note that they had been contacting him well before he decided to transfer.

Leonard entered the portal with a no-contact tag on his entry, meaning that teams cannot reach out to him, but he can reach out to them.
The Irish took in Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman prior to this season, but Hartman’s eligibility has run out and Notre Dame will be looking for a new starting quarterback for the 2024 season.
Leonard spent the past three seasons at Duke. In 2022, the quarterback totaled 2,967 yards with 20 passing touchdowns and six interceptions while leading Duke to a 9-4 record. He also had 699 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns and was an All-ACC honorable mention selection for his performance.
He played in just seven games this season, missing time because of a toe injury. He finished the season with 1,102 yards passing, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. He added four rushing touchdowns and 352 yards on the ground.
