Nick Saban is well aware that head coaches across the country are trying to catch up to him and his Alabama program, but he would greatly appreciate it if they stopped talking behind his back.
Because he is 70 years old, rival coaches and recruiters have mentioned his retirement as a possibility and word has gotten back to the Bama coach and he isn’t thrilled about it.
Saban spoke on the set of the SEC Network on Tuesday at SEC Media Days, and explained what working means to him.
“I love my job. I love the relationships with the players. I love the competition, I love the preparation for the games and I just love it,” Saban said, via Saturday Down South. “I wish you all would ask all the other coaches that come up here, because they tell all the recruits I’m going to retire.
“Why don’t you ask them how they know I’m going to retire? When all I think about is what am I going to do if I retire. I love what I’m doing now so how am I going to be happy not doing it.”
Saban is 183-25 in 15 years at Alabama and has won 7 national championships at Alabama.
